Breaking the logic of your own industry
The Business Model Navigator is a method for developing new business models. It is based on the book of the same name by Oliver Gassmann, Karolin Frankenberger and Michaela Csik. The method developed at the University of St. Gallen uses a total of 55 models of successful business model innovations, whose components become combination elements for the innovation of one’s own new business model. This method of recombining serves as a creative technique for breaking through one’s own industry logic in order to come up with new ideas outside of the existing thinking patterns. The method also helps to define the external and internal dimensions of a business model and to answer questions on topics such as value proposition, value chain and revenue mechanics: Who are our customers? What do we offer our customers? How do we produce the service? How do we create value?
